With the support of ANTS, the methodological guide “Solidarity Economy” has been presented to help communities create and implement solidarity-based projects that stimulate business development and address urgent social challenges.
The content of the guide has practical value and can be applied in the planning and implementation of solidarity initiatives, campaigns, and projects that promote a transition toward the principles of the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE).
It is designed for civil society organizations (the “third sector”), business representatives, local governments, and public authorities—both in times of war and throughout the post-war recovery period.
The methodological guide is a training and practical publication that includes:
-
a theoretical section introducing the fundamental concepts of the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE), its core values, the characteristics of SSE organizations, the global growth of this model, and its relevance for Ukraine;
-
step-by-step instructions and real-life examples of implementing solidarity actions and projects as forms of social innovation carried out by a broad range of stakeholders;
-
practical recommendations for various sectors of Ukrainian society on how to respond to the destructive impact caused by russia’s full-scale military aggression against Ukraine.
The guide was developed within the framework of the USAID project “Economic Resilience Activity in Ukraine”. The co-authors are solidarity economy experts Olena Motuzenko and Valeriia Bondarenko, affiliated with the USAID project.
The presentation of the Solidarity Economy guide took place during the forum “Current Challenges and Future Priorities Through the Eyes of Changemakers”, organized by the NGO “Network for the Protection of National Interests – ANTS”.
“Everything we do today—at every level, from local communities to the President—must strengthen us as a nation, help address urgent challenges, enhance Ukraine’s competitiveness, and reinforce its defense capabilities. Solidarity-based projects and initiatives that stimulate the development of the social and solidarity economy play a vital role in this process. They focus on fostering entrepreneurship while simultaneously responding to the pressing needs of local communities.
The Solidarity Economy guide provides essential knowledge and includes practical tools for implementing such initiatives at the community level,”— stated Hanna Hopko, Chair of the Board of the NGO Network for the Protection of National Interests – ANTS. “Let’s combine theory with practice—and move forward toward Victory!”
