An experienced Latvian expert in the field of cultural policies Ms. Linda Bērziņa joined the “Restoring Ukraine Together: Building an Inclusive Platform for Ukraine’s Revival” team.
Linda Bērziņa is a member of the board of the Latvian non-governmental organization VISIONARY CULTURE FOUNDATION
As part of the Project Mrs. Linda will work on describing the state of Ukraine’s European integration progress, and identifying problem sectors in the cultural sphere, developing a roadmap for European integration reforms in the cultural sphere, and making recommendations for bringing Ukrainian legislation into line with EU rules and practices.
Ms. Bērziņa directly participated in the development and implementation of similar documents as part of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia during the EU accession negotiations, so her experience is truly unique and very valuable for the Project. In addition to working in management positions in the Ministry of Culture of Latvia, the expert also worked in many cultural non-governmental organizations, managed a center of contemporary art, teaches in higher education institutions in the field of culture; that is, she has a really broad view of the field and understands the needs of all interested parties.
We will send all documents developed in the framework of cooperation with Ms. Bērziņa to the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine for further processing and discussion in expert, professional, and public circles. Ms. Linda will also participate as a speaker in the events organized by the Project, where she will have the opportunity to share with the Ukrainian cultural community her personal experience and practical advice on how the post-Soviet country can effectively and successfully integrate into the European cultural space, based on almost 20 years of experience in Latvia in the European Union.
