The purpose of the meeting:

The unprecedented challenges facing the field of protection, preservation and sustainable management of cultural heritage today require the consolidation of civil society, government, media and international partners.

In the face of a constant threat of physical destruction, a serious lack of funding, an outflow of specialists and insufficient support from the state, only the unification of all active representatives of the sector on the basis of self-sufficiency and mutual support will help to find ways out of the difficult situation and tools to influence public opinion and public authorities, as well as to form a platform for ongoing dialogue between stakeholders and partners.

Topics for discussion:

  • Effective models and practices for the protection, preservation and sustainable management of cultural heritage in times of war;
  • Models of interaction between civil society organisations;
  • Development of public sector capacity in heritage preservation;
  • Advocacy for heritage preservation and dissemination of participatory practices at the local, national and international level;
  • Effective protection and management of cultural heritage in the context of wartime challenges, post-war reconstruction and European integration of Ukraine.

The event was organised by the team of the National Interest Advocacy Network “ANTS” within the framework of the USAID/ENGAGE activity, which is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by Pact in Ukraine. The contents of this event are the sole responsibility of Pact and its partners and do not necessarily reflect the views of USAID or the United States Government.
